Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Media Specialist supports the execution of the company's social media strategy across corporate channels. This position is responsible for day-to-day social media operations, including content planning, copy development, publishing, channel management, and performance reporting. The role also supports content that advances business objectives, employer brand, recruiting efforts, and culture-related communications.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing corporate social media channels, developing platform-appropriate content, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and using analytics to evaluate and improve performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, write, publish, and manage content across company social media channels
  • Maintain and update the social media editorial calendar in alignment with business priorities and communication needs
  • Draft, edit, and adapt social copy for platform, audience, and message objectives
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to identify stories, gather source material, and develop content
  • Support content development for organizational announcements, campaigns, recruiting initiatives, employer brand, and culture communications
  • Create or coordinate simple graphics and short-form videos consistent with brand standards
  • Monitor channel activity and maintain content accuracy, timeliness, and consistency
  • Measure and report social media performance using analytics tools and platform insights
  • Track trends and identify opportunities to improve content effectiveness and audience engagement
  • Ensure content follows internal review, approval, and brand governance processes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in social media, digital marketing, content development, or communications
  • Experience managing at least two business or corporate social media channels
  • Demonstrated experience with LinkedIn content management and publishing
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience managing editorial or content calendars and balancing multiple deadlines
  • Experience using social media analytics and reporting tools to assess performance
  • Experience creating or coordinating basic creative assets for social use
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with varied stakeholders
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Experience in defense, aerospace, government contracting, technology, or another regulated or technical industry
    • Experience supporting employer brand, talent acquisition marketing, or thought leadership initiatives
    • Familiarity with Sprout Social, HubSpot, or similar content management and reporting platforms
    • Experience coordinating organic and paid social efforts
    • Portfolio or samples of relevant work
