Job description

As the Social Media Coordinator at Hot Topic, you'll be asked to binge-watch the latest anime, catch the newest superhero movie, discover your next favorite band, and then help bring those moments to life across our social channels. We're looking for someone who is obsessed with music, pop culture, fashion, technology, and emerging social media trends.

The Social Media Coordinator provides administrative support and coordination to the Social Media team, assisting with the day-to-day execution of social media campaigns across content, community, and influencer marketing. This role helps ensure creative assets, campaigns, and communications authentically represent the Hot Topic and BoxLunch brands while driving engagement with our fans.

This role operates on a hybrid schedule and will require to work from our HQ located in the City of Industry, CA three days a week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Support the day-to-day execution of social media campaigns across content, community, and influencer initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining the social media content calendar, tracking creative briefs, campaign assets, and product samples to ensure projects stay on schedule.
  • Schedule and publish daily content across social media platforms.
  • Partner with Creative Services, Photo Studio, Video Production, Merchandising, and cross-functional teams to coordinate assets and deliver engaging social content.
  • Support Community Managers with community moderation and fan engagement.
  • Review user-generated content (UGC), obtain creator permissions, and assist with approving and scheduling content for publication.
  • Coordinate and execute sweepstakes fulfillment, including prize management and distribution.
  • Assist with influencer marketing operations, including product sampling, inventory management, marketing pulls, and shipment fulfillment.
  • Track influencer calendars, purchase orders, inventory, and marketing samples.
  • Support influencer outreach, communications, and relationship management with prospective creator partners.
  • Coordinate influencer payments and maintain organized campaign documentation.
  • Share high-quality influencer content with the Social Content team for repurposing across brand channels.
  • Brainstorm creative ideas to increase engagement, amplify content, and support social marketing initiatives that drive traffic and sales.
  • Assist with campaign reporting, tracking, and other administrative support for the Social Media team as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 0-1 year of experience in social media, brand marketing, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign preferred.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and platform insights.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling, social media, and emerging digital trends.
  • Passion for music, pop culture, fashion, gaming, anime, and entertainment.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and accountable with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends to support events and social coverage.
  • Ability to travel as business needs require.
