POSITION: Social Media Coordinator; Part-Time
LOCATION: Clarkesville, GA
DESCRIPTION: North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) is seeking a creative, organized, and highly motivated Social Media Coordinator to develop and manage the College's social media presence across multiple platforms. This position will play an important role in telling the NGTC story, promoting programs and student success, highlighting faculty and staff, supporting enrollment and recruitment efforts, and increasing engagement with students, alumni, business and industry partners, donors, and the communities we serve.
The Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Office of Institutional Advancement and Marketing and collaborate with departments across the College to identify compelling stories, create engaging content, coordinate social media campaigns, and maintain a consistent and recognizable NGTC brand.
The ideal candidate is an excellent writer and visual storyteller who understands social media trends, enjoys working with people, can capture authentic moments through photography and video, and is comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.
This position will work primarily in a professional office on the Clarkesville campus but will regularly travel between NGTC campuses and other locations for events, meetings, photography, video production, and community activities. The position requires flexibility to attend occasional events outside normal business hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement social media content strategies that support NGTC's institutional goals, marketing priorities, enrollment efforts, and community engagement.
  • Manage the College's official social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other emerging platforms as appropriate.
  • Create, schedule, publish, and monitor engaging social media content, including posts, graphics, photographs, short-form videos, reels, stories, and other digital content.
  • Develop a consistent content calendar and coordinate content across platforms.
  • Attend campus events, student activities, ceremonies, special events, and other College activities to capture photographs and video for social media and marketing purposes.
  • Identify and tell compelling stories about NGTC students, faculty, staff, alumni, programs, achievements, partnerships, donors, and community impact.
  • Work with academic and administrative departments to gather information and develop social media content that accurately represents College programs and initiatives.
  • Assist with social media campaigns supporting student recruitment, enrollment, registration, scholarships, events, fundraising, workforce development, and special initiatives.
  • Monitor social media comments, messages, mentions, and engagement and respond appropriately or route inquiries to the appropriate person.
  • Track social media analytics and prepare regular reports evaluating reach, engagement, audience growth, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Stay current with social media trends, platform updates, emerging technologies, content formats, and best practices.
  • Maintain and strengthen NGTC's visual identity, tone, messaging, and brand standards across social media platforms.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team on photography, videography, graphic design, advertising, news releases, website content, and other communications initiatives.
  • Assist with paid social media campaigns and targeted digital advertising as assigned.
  • Maintain an organized library of social media photographs, video, graphics, and other digital assets.
  • Help develop social media guidelines and best practices for College departments and employees.
  • Assist with crisis communications and time-sensitive social media messaging when needed.
  • Ensure all social media content is professional, accurate, timely, accessible, and appropriate for a public higher education institution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree and 2 years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, digital media, graphic design, or a related field; and 1 year of experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms for an organization, business, nonprofit, educational institution, or similar entity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, analytics, and content strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging written, photographic, and video content.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community partners.
  • Proficiency with social media management and scheduling tools and common digital content creation applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in higher education, public relations, marketing, nonprofit communications, or a similar environment.
  • Experience with photography and videography, particularly for social media.
  • Experience creating short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and similar platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or comparable graphic design and content creation tools.
  • Experience using social media analytics and reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for digital communications.
  • Experience developing paid social media advertising campaigns.
