The Role and Why It's Important
As a Social Media Strategist at Hy-Vee, you take a leading role in shaping how our brand shows up and connects with customers across social media. You own the strategy behind organic social content, vendor and user-generated content, boosted efforts, and e-commerce social execution, working across platforms and with cross-functional teams to drive engagement, traffic, and conversions. You stay ahead of platform trends and bring fresh thinking to content strategy every month, while using data and reporting to continuously improve performance.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and manage social media strategy that aligns with Hy-Vee's broader marketing objectives, building brand awareness and engagement across all targeted social media channels.
  • Manage all social media content publishing across multiple platforms, ensuring content is on-brand, timely, and optimized for each channel.
  • Own organic vendor posting and user-generated content strategy and execution, including sourcing, coordination, and quality oversight.
  • Oversee organic boosted strategy, including agency communication, reporting, and execution.
  • Research, develop, manage, and execute social media e-commerce initiatives to generate online sales, collaborating closely with the paid digital media team.
  • Collaborate with the Content Manager and Influencer team on corporate content strategy, including Instagram collaborations and Facebook partnership programs.
  • Ideate and propose monthly content strategy in collaboration with the Social Media Manager and Director, Creative & Content Marketing.
  • Leverage reporting and analytics to propose strategic content adjustments or platform pivots, and provide metrics and insights on social media campaigns to leadership.
  • Monitor and communicate social platform updates, facilitating related training and education on social media best practices across the team.
  • Research and champion new technology, tools, and software to strengthen social media capabilities.
  • Stay current on emerging social media trends, competitor activity, and industry developments, sharing relevant insights with the team.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all advertising, pricing, and company information.

Your Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of social media platforms, their unique audiences, and how to use them to maximize brand awareness and marketing results.
  • In-depth knowledge of content marketing theory and the ability to take a concept from ideation to full execution.

  • In-depth knowledge of analytics software, content management systems, and SEO tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and communicate clearly to leadership.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and adapt quickly when priorities or direction change.
  • Comfortable working independently with a high degree of self-motivation and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality as it pertains to advertising, pricing, and company information.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of marketing agency or related work experience.
  • Proven experience in a social media strategy role preferred.
  • Experience with social media management platforms, analytics tools, and content management systems required.
  • Experience with Meta Business Suite and paid/boosted social execution preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, including computers and telephones.
  • Ability to review and analyze documents and data on screen.
  • Ability to occasionally transport materials weighing up to 10 pounds (such as files or office supplies).
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight stays, for events or agency meetings.

This position works in a general office setting with possible flexible work arrangements outside of the office. Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required.
