Job Title: Part Time Midstate Soccer Coach
Department: DISC
Reports to: Midstate Soccer Director
Wage: $15/hour
POSITION FOCUS:
Under general direction of the Soccer Director and Assistant Directors, a Midstate Soccer coach is responsible for leading, managing and directing each soccer session. Coaches are required to teach, train, condition, and coach all participants in their group. The Midstate Soccer Coach is to abide by rules and regulations established by Midstate. Coaches are also required to have soccer coaching experience and obtain a Grassroots License within 6 months of employment. This is a part-time, year-round position.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:
Work closely with Midstate Soccer Director and Assistant Directors, fellow coaches and the Decatur Park District in running and preparing participants at Midstate Soccer Complex and Decatur Indoor Sports Center (DISC).
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Demonstrate and teach specific curriculum
  • Mentor and advise participants
  • Assist with evaluating players
  • Setting up session and cleaning up session
  • Keeping a safe environment
  • Attend all scheduled training sessions and meetings

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
  • Club experience
  • Capacity to maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors and other Club trainers
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relations with both internal and external patrons
  • Ability to communicate effectively within various settings
  • Capacity to maintain self-control, composure, and sportsmanship in difficult situations

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. HOURS:
Weekday nights, typically 6 hours per week for training. Some weekend hours may be required. Travel may be required.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIROMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Work is generally performed outdoors. Kneeling, standing, walking, crouching, and reaching are consistently required. Light lifting should be expected.
