Job Description
A well-established aerospace and defense company is looking to add a Junior SOC Analyst to its cybersecurity operations team in Hartford, CT. This role is ideal for someone early in their cybersecurity career who wants real-world experience working in a structured enterprise security environment.
You'll be part of a team responsible for reviewing security activity across the organization, investigating unusual behavior, and helping determine when an event needs to be escalated. The position offers hands-on exposure to enterprise networks, endpoints, servers, firewalls, and security monitoring tools while giving you the opportunity to build a strong foundation in SOC operations and incident response.
You'll also work alongside experienced cybersecurity and IT professionals, helping analyze alerts, troubleshoot technical issues, document findings, and support the organization's overall security posture.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or a related technical discipline
  • Active CompTIA Security+
  • Foundational knowledge of security operations and common cyber threats
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or UNIX environments
  • Ability to interpret system, firewall, and security logs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a collaborative technical team
Desired Skills & Experience

  • Investigate suspicious network, endpoint, and system activity
  • Analyze logs from firewalls, servers, endpoints, and other infrastructure
  • Determine when events require escalation to senior security staff
  • Support active security investigations and incident response efforts
  • Troubleshoot security-related technical issues
  • Coordinate with internal cybersecurity and IT teams
  • Maintain accurate investigation notes, procedures, and security documentation
