Location: Spirit Mountain Recreation Area
Position: Ski Instructor
Type: Seasonal, Part-Time
Application Period: Open Now (Hiring Begins in Late October/Early November)
Duration: Winter Season (November - April)


SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
Are you passionate about snowboarding and wish others shared the same interest? Do you have excellent snowboarding skills and want to share the experience with others? Are you looking for a fun, flexible job with great perks? If any of this resonates with you, consider applying for the Snowboard Instructor position at Spirit Mountain.


As a Snowboard Instructor, you are expected to be Punctual, Professional, Patient, and Positive. Instructors play a crucial role in the Spirit Mountain guest experience, so it is essential to be passionate about sharing your love for snowboarding and helping others enjoy the sport.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instruct groups and/or individuals in a fun lesson format.
  • Teach proper snowboarding techniques appropriate to the ability level of those being instructed.
  • Promote safety and give students the knowledge to remain safe when they leave lessons to ride on their own.
  • Participate in clinics and free-riding to constantly improve personal snowboarding skills.
  • Attend AASI clinics and take appropriate exams on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in pre-season clinics.
  • Greet guests and direct them to the proper lesson locations.
  • Successfully complete instructor training.

NOTE: All Snowboard Instructors are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.

Requirements

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors) certification at levels I, II, or III.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to snowboard for prolonged periods (2+ hours) in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, as well as indoors.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment as required.
  • Ability to manage physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, and twisting.
