Description:

BETA is seeking for an experienced Senior Potable Water & Wastewater Project Engineer to join our team. The position will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in the New England area and will provide leadership and client development specifically in water and wastewater engineering, construction management, civil infrastructure design, and permitting. This team of professionals comes together to create innovated planning and design solutions for our public-sector clients’ water treatment, distribution, and storage infrastructure while also providing the same service for their wastewater treatment and collection infrastructure to improve the overall condition and increase reliability of these systems. Projects may include: Long-term planning programs, condition surveys, asset management programs, design of water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems and the associated treatment facilities and pump stations for each, and construction management and oversight. In addition, this position will play a key role in performing and overseeing technical designs, developing projects from conceptual to final design, overseeing the preparation of contract plans and documents, mentoring staff, and executing business development, project pursuit, and client management activities.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform, manage, and oversee engineering on water and wastewater planning and design projects
  • Technical design lead on concurrent projects
  • Recommend solutions to engineering issues
  • Manage projects including scope, budget and schedules for detailed engineering planning, design, review and contract documents. Continue project management through construction phases including construction oversight
  • Provide responsive client service through strong and prompt communication
  • Mentor younger staff to enhance their knowledge and advance their career development
  • Perform business development and manage project pursuits
  • Collaborate across internal disciplines and office locations
  • Properly scope, schedule and budget assignments/projects

Preferred location is BETA’s Norwood office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Requirements:

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 12 to 15 years of related engineering experience in water and wastewater projects
  • Demonstrated strong background in environmental engineering and hydraulic modeling with software programs
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with the implementation of planning, design, bidding and construction oversight of water and wastewater projects
  • Skilled in writing and ability to prepare formal reports
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
  • Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D and ArcGIS/Pro experience
