Job description

Description and Terms of Employment Under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Lead Instructor, the RiverRink Ice Skating Instructor is primarily responsible for organizing, leading, and instructing learn-to-skate classes at the City of Monona's RiverRink outdoor ice skating rink. Classes may include beginner and intermediate level ice skating, figure skating, and basic hockey skating skills. Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for the position.

These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned. Organize, lead, and teach basic ice-skating skills, figure skating skills, and/or hockey skills for the appropriate classes with an emphasis on safety and fun. Set up for classes and help with clean-up after classes.

Track and evaluate student progress and performance as needed. Attend in-house training sessions. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Must be at least 14 years of age Must be skilled at ice skating Must have knowledge or experience with the organization and supervision of skating school classes Must have experience working with children ages 3 and above, children with special needs, and adults Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends Knowledge and Abilities Must be able to effectively communicate instructions to students. Must have the ability to visually observe and move body position if necessary to follow the movements of students. Must be able to work in outdoor conditions, including cold, wind, snow, and sleet.
