Job description

This seasonal position can last from July through the end of harvest.

This position is responsible for performing operations tasks involving the receiving, storage, and shipping of grain.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • A grain operations worker manages the handling, storage, and movement of agricultural commodities like corn & wheat. Their physical, hands-on role includes inspecting and probing grain trucks, operating machinery and railcar equipment, maintaining facility cleanliness, and ensuring grain quality throughout the agricultural supply chain.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to stand for an extended period of time

  • Ability to frequently lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds

  • Must be able to climb/stoop/kneel at heights up to 180 feet

  • Works outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.

  • Working conditions could include dust, fumes, moderate noise and uneven surfaces

Safety Hazards: Involves working around heavy machinery, loud noises, and grain dust, requiring strict adherence to safety and PPE protocols.

Schedule: Fast-paced and seasonal, with extended hours, weekend shifts, and longer work weeks required during peak harvest seasons.

Skills: Basic mechanical, computer literacy for operating control panels, and the ability to drive mobile equipment (like tractors or loaders).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • No experience required.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Previous grain operation experience preferred
