Job description

Hutchinson Public Schools is seeking a Cook Lead at West Elementary to join our Food Service team for the 26-27 school year and beyond!

This position will work 179 days per year, 6.92 hours per day. The salary range for this position is $19.85 per hour - $22.91 per hour. Salary is dependent upon education and experience. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Production Supervisor and/or the Assistant Production Supervisor in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Oversee and train staff to maintain a steady work flow of operations to ensure that all meals are prepared, cooked, and served in accordance with standardized recipes and guideline compliance.
  • Ensure food safety standards for preparation, storage, and serving of food are maintained.
  • Maintain inventory and production records.
  • Cook and prepare student meals as needed. 

Qualifications: 

  • School food service and culinary experience is strongly preferred.
  • Food Protection Manager License is preferred but must be obtained once hired
  • SNA Level 1, 2 and 3 certification must be attained in a timely manner. Time will be provided to attain the certifications upon hire.
  • Customer service skills are essential to this position.
  • Ability to work with others as a team is required as teamwork is crucial to the efficiency of the kitchens.
  • Computer experience is preferred.
