Job description

Job Title: Procurement Process Analyst/Process Documentation Specialist Location: Vienna, VA Work Model: hybrid, onsite 3 days a week Pay Rate: open to W2 and established 1099 We are looking for a Procurement Process Analyst/Process Documentation Specialist who has at least 5 years of professional experience gathering detailed information about how procurement work is performed and turn that information into accurate, usable process documentation. Candidates must have actual process mapping/documentation experience (not general procurement experience). This role requires business/process analyst who has solid procurement knowledge. This role will be working with procurement stakeholders to understand how procurement processes currently work, document the individual steps, and provide that information to a larger process-improvement team. The candidate will be gathering and organizing the detailed process information that another team will use to create process maps, identify inefficiencies, standardize procedures, and recommend improvements. This role is not for someone who simply knows procurement but instead can take "This is how our procurement team does this today..." and turn it into "Here is the documented, structured, step-by-step process, including actors, systems, inputs, outputs, decisions, approvals, and handoffs." Responsibilities include:

  • Interview procurement employees and SMEs about how work is performed.
  • Document current-state ("as-is") procurement processes step by step.
  • Capture inputs, outputs, systems, approvals, handoffs, and decision points.
  • Identify who performs each step and what information/documents are required.
  • Translate conversations and informal procedures into clear process documentation.
  • Help create or update process flowcharts/process maps.
  • Validate documented processes with procurement stakeholders.
  • Identify process gaps, redundancies, bottlenecks, and unclear handoffs.
  • Maintain process documentation and version control.
  • Provide detailed process information to a larger business process improvement/transformation initiative.

Required skills include: Process Mapping & Process Documentation Procurement Process Knowledge Requirements Gathering/SME Interviews Business Process Analysis Strong Documentation & Technical Writing Stakeholder Communication Process Improvement/Continuous Improvement Attention Detail Business Analysis Process Mapping Tools Source-to-Pay (S2P) or Procure-to-Pay (P2P) lifecycle (Sourcing, Supplier Selection, Contract, Requisition, Approval, Purchase Order, Receiving, Invoice, Payment)
