Job description

Smart Shield Systems is hiring a skilled Security Systems Technician to install, service, and troubleshoot residential and commercial security systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with alarm systems and low voltage wiring, and takes pride in clean work and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, service, and troubleshoot alarm systems (panels, sensors, keypads, sirens, etc.).
  • Install and configure video surveillance systems (indoor/outdoor cameras, video doorbells, mounts).
  • Perform system takeovers, upgrades, and troubleshooting service calls.
  • Run and terminate low voltage wiring when needed (attics, walls, crawlspaces).
  • Install smart home devices and automation (locks, thermostats, lighting, etc.).
  • Install and support access control equipment (smart locks, keypads, access schedules).
  • Configure systems and assist with app setup and customer training.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal office staff.
  • Document work performed (equipment installed, job notes, issues, recommendations).
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness and professional standards.

Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in security systems installation (alarms required).
  • Low voltage wiring experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience installing and servicing cameras (WiFi and/or PoE preferred).
  • Troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have own hand tools (and be willing to use company equipment where provided).

Preferred (Big Plus):
  • Alarm.com experience.
  • Qolsys / DSC / Honeywell/Resideo / 2GIG experience.
  • Access control experience (strikes, mags, REX, door contacts).
  • Networking basics (router troubleshooting, signal testing, cable termination).
