Data Center Hands and Feet Engineer Location: Salt Lake City, UT Job ID: #71690 Pay Range: $34-40 an hour Job Type: Full-Time Job Summary: The Smart Hands and Feet Support Technician is responsible for providing on-site technical support in data centers, including hardware installations, troubleshooting, maintenance, and coordination with remote teams. This role is critical for ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure and supporting both scheduled and emergency tasks. Key Responsibilities: Hardware Support: Rack, stack, install, and decommission servers, storage devices, and network equipment. Perform hardware upgrades and replacements. Conduct visual inspections and fault isolation for third-party equipment. Network & Cabling: Perform cable patching, jack testing, and end-to-end network connectivity checks. Trace cable routes and manage cable labeling and documentation. Incident & Service Request Handling: Respond to alerts and incidents within defined SLAs. Provide break/fix support and escalate issues as needed. Monitoring and Reporting Conduct regular system checks and environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity). Maintain inventory and asset tracking systems. Document incidents and resolutions Coordination & Communication: Work closely with remote support teams and third-party vendors. Provide timely updates on issue status and resolution. Participate in disaster recovery (DR) testing and critical change activities. Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including troubleshooting steps and resolutions. Follow change management and incident response procedures. Qualifications: Associate Degree or equivalent; technical certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.) preferred. 3-7 years of experience in data center operations or IT support. Strong knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware. Familiarity with data center best practices and modular containment. Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in confined spaces. Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills. Flexible and adaptable to work in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment On-site presence at enterprise or remote data centers. May require flexible hours or on-call availability. Physical work including lifting and moving equipment.
