Job description

We perform installation, rigging, millwrighting, and maintenance for manufacturing and industrial markets across the Southeast.


Southern Industrial Constructors Inc. is seeking an experienced BIM Manager to work out of our Columbia, SC office.  The BIM Manager will be responsible for creating and managing Building Information Modelling (BIM) projects for SIC, including digital construction procedures at the design, construction, and handover stages of a project. This individual will act as the gatekeeper for BIM workflow and serve as the liaison for planning, 3D renderings, cost estimating, specification management and more. The BIM Manager will also act as the “focal point” for all BIM related issues throughout the project and is responsible for managing all BIM processes.

  • Work with project teams in estimating, modeling, and detailing.
  • Help resolve BIM design issues as needed.
  • Assist project teams with BIM project setup.
  • Create Revit families in response to project needs.
  • Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team.
  • Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with IT.
  • Communicate with subcontractors to receive, coordinate and update all electronic models.
  • Link BIM to the project requirements such as submittals, construction models, shop drawings and schedules.
  • Carry BIM flag within organization and show PM’s the value that BIM can bring to their projects.
  • Manage BIM resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Stay informed of best practices for use of Revit and BIM.
  • Installation and support of related BIM software.
  • Work with multiple file types depending on customer requirements.
  • Import various model file formats into Navisworks, Revit, and a federated model.
  • Design in AutoCad, AutoCad 3D, Revit, Inventor, and NavisWorks.
  • Develop and export data from models for estimating and layout purposes.
  • Develop and review drawing package templates.
  • Provide quality control for accuracy and completeness of shop drawings.Requirements
  • Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training.
  • Minimum 5+ year’s experience in modeling, design, drafting or engineering.
  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of current BIM practices and software.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Revit and/or other Autodesk software certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial construction and contract documentation at all levels of design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to cooperate and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, vendors and suppliers and other contractor organizations
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet work goals independently.
