Competitive Salary + Bonus + Career Progression

Kansas City, Missouri or Auburn Hills, Michigan

Our client is a leading provider of Material Handling and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) solutions, delivering complex automation projects across airports, distribution centres, warehouses and logistics facilities throughout North America. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their team.

This opportunity would suit an organised and results-driven project professional who enjoys leading multidisciplinary engineering projects, working directly with customers, and delivering complex automation systems from project award through to successful commissioning and handover.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the overall execution of Material Handling and Baggage Handling System (BHS) projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with customer requirements.

Working closely with Project Engineers, Design Engineers, Procurement, Manufacturing, Installation and Commissioning teams, you will oversee every stage of the project lifecycle while acting as the primary point of contact for customers and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of Material Handling and BHS projects from project kick-off through commissioning and final handover.

  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, resources and contractual deliverables.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, manufacturing, installation and commissioning activities.

  • Serve as the primary customer contact throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring effective communication and strong client relationships.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules while proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation plans.

  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Monitor project costs, variations and change orders while maintaining commercial performance.

  • Lead project review meetings, customer progress meetings and internal coordination sessions.

  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and system handover activities.

  • Ensure all project documentation, reporting and quality standards are completed in accordance with company procedures.

  • Work closely with Project Engineers to ensure engineering deliverables align with project objectives and customer expectations.

  • Drive continuous improvement, customer satisfaction and successful project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related technical discipline.

  • 5+ years of project management experience within Material Handling, Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), warehouse automation or industrial automation.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Strong understanding of conveyor systems, sortation equipment, controls integration and automated material handling technologies.

  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors and customer relationships.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and project documentation.

  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar project scheduling software.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% for customer meetings, design reviews and site support.

Reasons to Apply

  • Join a growing organisation delivering large-scale Material Handling and BHS automation projects across North America.

  • Lead high-profile projects from concept through commissioning.

  • Work closely with experienced engineering, manufacturing and commissioning teams.

  • Significant customer interaction and project ownership.

  • Excellent long-term career progression within a leading automation business.

  • Opportunity to work on technically challenging projects incorporating conveyors, sortation systems, controls integration and advanced automation technologies.
