Job description

White Elephant Sale (WES) Van Driver

The White Elephant Sale (WES) Van Driver plays an important role in supporting our fundraiser sale by picking up generous donations from our donors and safely delivering them to the WES warehouse. Donations can include boxes and bags of various sizes, furniture, artwork, small appliances, and other household items.

The ideal candidate is a safe, dependable, and confident driver who is comfortable operating a box truck and using GPS navigation. Strong communication and customer service skills are important, as the Van Driver will interact directly with donors and assist with coordinating and handling their donated items.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Possess a valid California Driver's License and have a clean driving record
  • Safely operate a box truck and navigate to and from donor locations using GPS.
  • Pick up and transport donated items safely and efficiently.
  • Safely lift, lower, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance.
  • Handle a variety of items, including furniture, artwork, appliances, boxes, bags, and household goods.
  • Communicate courteously and effectively with donors regarding their donations.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude when representing the White Elephant Sale and the Oakland Museum Women’s Board.
  • Ability to work independently.

Position Details:

  • Employer: Oakland Museum Women’s Board
  • Position: Full-Time WES Van Driver
  • Schedule: Minimum of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday and some weekends as needed.
  • Reports to: Dispatcher/Van Driver Supervisor
  • Benefits: Available after 90 days
  • Holiday Schedule: The organization is closed during the Christmas holidays.
