Copper Mountain Resort is a vacation destination located 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Three vibrant, pedestrian-friendly village areas host lodging, retail outlets, restaurants, bars, and family activities. During the winter months, Copper's world-class terrain offers skiing and riding for all ages and abilities. Each summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone seeking a genuine Colorado experience. Copper Mountain Resort is also home to Woodward Copper action-sports camps, programs, and training facility.
Job Title: Vehicle Maintenance Small Engine Technician
Job Status: Year Round Full Time
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $28.50 to $32.00+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
  • Benefits: This position is eligible to enroll in company subsidized medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, HSA, life/disability options; season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Job Summary:
The Vehicle Maintenance Small Engine Technician performs preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), failure analysis and troubleshooting on snowmobiles, ATVs, Side by Side and other equipment to ensure proper repairs of Copper Mountain's fleet. Provides Copper Mountain Resort with maximum safe vehicle availability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs PMI's and resulting repairs in accordance with Powdr Copper Mountain's Department of Vehicle Maintenance guidelines and standards on fleet, including all vehicles, ensuring maximum safe vehicle availability, with minimized costs.
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes, repairs, designs, modifies and completes failure analysis on small engine vehicles and machines.
  • Assist with repairs to any Copper vehicle
  • Operates all small engine vehicles in order to evaluate the results of previously performed maintenance.
  • Is accountable for the cleanliness of the work area in order to provide a safe environment to work in.
  • Is responsible for inventory, repair and clean-up of one or more of the following areas: (a) tires, (b) paint and body, (c) welding, (d) fuel inventory, (e) lube supplies/hazardous materials, (f) general shop equipment, and (g) hydraulics.
  • Is accountable for accurate and precise recording of daily activities on work orders, indirect labor logs, and parts requisition to be used on the evaluation and administration portion of the Department's operation.
  • Consults manuals, trade publications, trade associations, vendors, fellow employees, outside schools and training programs in order to stay up-to-date in new maintenance technologies to improve the efficiency and production of our operation.

Contacts:
  • Has consistent contact with fellow Vehicle Maintenance employees and occasional contact with operating department employees. Has occasional contact with outside vendors.
  • Requirements Needed for Advancement to Higher Levels* (special positions only):
  • Three years of experience working on small engines
  • Must have the tools to perform major preventive maintenance repairs on all Powdr Copper Mountain fleet, excluding "specialty" tools.
  • Be knowledgeable, proficient and work with minimal supervision in these areas:
    • Troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems..
    • Troubleshooting and repair of small engine machines
    • Troubleshooting and repair of gas and engine systems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in order to train co-worker in all maintenance areas of operation.
  • Must have the ability to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the small engine area in the absence of the Foremen and Manager.

Administration Duties:
  • Must have accurate verbal and written communication skills, understanding and the ability to read and write the English language.

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • This position may require the use of a mountain radio/walkie-talkies for communication

Preferred Experience and Special Skills:
  • Three years' experience working on small engines or a certificate of completion from and Auto/Diesel Technology School.
  • Must include knowledge in the following areas: electrical, gas engine systems, computerized engine control systems, drive train, chassis, body repair, fuel systems, air systems, and schematic drawings.
  • Must possess the ability to operate all types of equipment that may be worked on.
  • Must possess the ability to coordinate multiple tasks at one time.
