Job Description
Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Profession: Therapy/Rehabilitation

Hours per Shift: 8 hours (08:00 - 16:30)
Experience: Minimum of 1 year required, acute care experience preferred
License: Active state license required
Certifications: BLS, CCC-SLP
Must-Have:
Bedside swallow examination experience
Knowledge and skill set to perform bedside swallow exams
Ability to assess dysphagia/swallowing
Description:
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide services in both inpatient rehab and acute care settings.
The primary focus will be on dysphagia and swallowing disorders.
Experience performing bedside swallow evaluations and treatments is required.
Candidates should have a solid understanding of dysphagia assessment processes.
If a Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBS) is needed, it will be performed by another therapist.
The position may involve working with a diverse patient population, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Weekly schedule requires working every fifth weekend, with potential on-call duties to be determined.
No local candidates will be considered, with local defined as within 25 miles.
RTO must be disclosed prior to submission, and no time off is allowed during the first week of the assignment.
The SLP will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
Additional skill sets such as experience with video fluoroscopy swallow evaluations and alternative communication devices are preferred but not mandatory.
Candidates will be expected to address communication disorders and cognitive impairments due to various medical conditions.
Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients is beneficial.
The SLP will also provide patient and family education regarding speech and swallowing disorders.
Candidates should demonstrate a passion for improving patient outcomes through effective communication and rehabilitation strategies.
