Emerald Packaging is a family-owned business that has been serving the fresh produce industry throughout the U.S. for nearly 60 years. We are one of the leading flexible packaging producers on the West Coast, with more than 250 employees operating 24/7.

Emerald Packaging is expanding—and we are looking for an experienced Slitter Operator to join our new Santa Ana operation.

Job Summary

The Experienced Slitter Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and monitoring of slitting and rewinding equipment used to convert large rolls of flexible packaging film into finished rolls according to customer specifications.

The ideal candidate has previous hands-on slitting experience and is comfortable performing machine setups, making adjustments, monitoring roll quality, troubleshooting operating issues, and minimizing downtime and material waste.

Essential Functions

  • Set up and operate designated slitting equipment safely, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Perform machine setups, adjustments, and changeovers according to customer job specifications.
  • Set and adjust knives, cores, shafts, tension, and other machine components as required for each job.
  • Read and accurately use rulers, tape measures, and other measuring tools; strong measurement skills are critical for machine setup.
  • Monitor web tension, roll alignment, tracking, speed, winding quality, and other machine/process conditions.
  • Inspect finished rolls to ensure proper width, diameter, winding, appearance, and overall quality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience operating slitting/rewinding equipment is required.
  • Experience in flexible packaging, film, printing, converting, or a similar manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Ability to independently perform machine setups, knife changes, adjustments, and changeovers.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work the required schedule.
  • Ability to eventually work a 12-hour rotating schedule.

Work Schedule

Current Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM

Future Schedule: The position will eventually transition to a 12-hour rotating schedule, generally two days on / two days off, with significant opportunities for overtime.

Compensation

$30.00 per hour

TEMP-TO-HIRE POSITION Opportunity for direct hire based on performance and previous experience.
