Job description

Polysomnographic Technologist

Location: The Woodlands, TX
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights - 3x12 Hours
Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and conduct overnight sleep studies according to physician orders and established protocols.

  • Review patient records and assess sleep/wake complaints prior to testing.

  • Interview patients regarding medications, caffeine or alcohol intake, sleep patterns, and treatment needs.

  • Perform polysomnographic testing and monitoring for patients across various age groups.

  • Conduct CPAP and BIPAP titration studies as indicated.

  • Perform complex sleep study procedures and patient evaluations.

  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and appropriate care throughout testing procedures.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.

  • Adhere to safety, sanitation, infection control, and equipment maintenance standards.

  • Support quality patient care and departmental objectives through effective time management and productivity.

  • Serve as a mentor, preceptor, and resource to less experienced staff when needed.

  • Participate in continuing education and maintain competency requirements.

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care and exceptional customer service.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma required.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RPSGT performing sleep studies required.

  • Experience with CPAP/BIPAP titration studies required.

  • Experience using Natus Sleepworks required.

  • Pediatric sleep study experience required.

  • Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds occasionally and carry up to 30 pounds required.

Preferred Skills
  • Strong sleep laboratory experience.

  • Proficiency in CPAP/BIPAP titration studies and pediatric sleep testing.

  • Knowledge of sleep study protocols, patient monitoring, and equipment operation.

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

  • Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented approach to patient care.
