Job description

Job Summary:
UCLA is redefining how it supports graduate students through the Division of Graduate Education. The Slate Developer will design, develop, and maintain Slate-based solutions to enhance the graduate admissions process, collaborating with various stakeholders to improve service delivery and applicant experiences.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain Slate-based solutions across applicant portals, data structures, Reader workflows, and communication delivery.
• Build scalable datasets and queries, develop dynamic portals, and configure Reader and Deliver to support complex graduate admissions processes.
• Translate functional requirements into robust Slate configurations that enhance the applicant and reviewer experience.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Technolutions Slate CRM 2+ years of hands-on experience with Technolutions Slate CRM in a technical or developer role
• Strong experience with Slate queries, datasets, and Configurable Joins, Slate Reader and Deliver configuration, Portal development using Liquid Markup, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Solid understanding of relational data structures and data modeling
• Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience
• May be required to work occasional evenings and weekends
Preferred:
• Experience in graduate admissions or higher education CRM environments
• Familiarity with UCLA systems and data architecture
• Experience designing complex Reader workflows across multiple programs
• Knowledge of email deliverability best practices and communication strategy
• Experience with APIs, scripting, or automation (Python, PowerShell)
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1)
