Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Mission Operations Manager to join our team in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), Florida. You will lead multiple teams supporting critical mission assurance for satellite launches for the Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Access Directorate (SSC/SA) National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program (formerly EELV). In this role, you will provide leadership for multiple teams of Mission Integrators, Launch Schedulers, Acquisitions and Program Management professionals, Project Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Quality Engineers supporting multiple NSSL launch vehicle product lines, including United Launch Alliance's Vulcan, SpaceX's Falcon, Blue Origin's New Glenn, and other New Entrant Launch Service Providers. You will act as a proactive leader driving initiatives through uncertainty while anticipating, understanding, and solving customer problems through technical insight, stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Leading multiple teams of engineering and business professionals across at least three different launch vehicle product lines and providing the primary management interface for internal and external meetings.
* Interfacing regularly with USSF System Delta 80 leadership, including Launch Execution Acquisition Delta (AAL) and Mission Solutions Acquisition Delta (AAM) programmatic and technical leaders.
* Supporting Space Force launch services acquisition functions such as requirements development, requests for proposals, source selection, and cost, technical, schedule, and performance reporting.
* Managing Engineering Review Board (ERB) processes and products while integrating with FFRDC counterparts to provide decision-quality risk assessments and recommendations.
* Reviewing and analyzing launch vehicle subsystem designs, manufacturing, testing, and flight data while producing integrated technical assessments on launch pad design and operations.
* Supporting live launch rehearsals and launch operations for NSSL missions and fleet surveillance to track risks, procedural changes, and industry trends.
* Facilitating the on-boarding, training, and certification of internal engineers and Space Force Responsible Engineers (SFREs) by developing and maintaining training materials. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline.
* 12+ years of experience in systems engineering or technical program management.
* 3+ years of engineering experience with National Security Space Launch (NSSL), Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV), Department of Defense, NASA, or industry equivalents.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Access (SA) Directorate, USSF, NASA, Launch Service Providers, and FFRDC counterparts.
* Extensive experience with aerospace industry hardware processing, integration, testing, launch operations, and anomaly resolution.
* High proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Office products with the ability to rapidly learn new collaboration and project management software platforms. Preferred Qualifications : * Advanced degree in Engineering or Management.
* Experience managing medium-to-large multi-disciplinary engineering and professional teams utilizing Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
* Experience with software collaboration and project management platforms such as JIRA, Confluence, Slack, Trello, and Asana.
* US Air Force or US Space Force acquisition experience, or a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Clearance Requirements: * An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. Physical Requirements: * Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
* Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other equipment.
* Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering technical presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
