Job description

Outokumpu is on the lookout for experienced Industrial Electricians to become part of our dynamic and growing team in Calvert, North Mobile County Alabama. 

Outokumpu is the global leader in sustainable stainless steel. We employ some 9,000 professionals in more than 30 countries who set the gold standard for innovation. The Americas is headquartered in Calvert, Mobile County, Alabama; home to one of the most technically advanced integrated stainless-steel mill in the United States. The Americas' footprint also expands to San Luis Potosi, Mexico, which is the only stainless steel cold rolling mill plus service center in the country. Additionally, Outokumpu business area Americas has a commercial office in Brazil.

 Job qualifications and experience requirements:

   3 years of experience as industrial/manufacturing  electrician 
   I/E Degree preferred
   Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives

   Knowledge of Motors and Motor control stations and Instrumentation
   Knowledge of PLC systems (ABB, Siemens, P80i) preferred
   Must be able to read electrical drawings

   Experience with installing conduit
   Must be able to use various meters (Voltmeter, Hart communicator, Scope)
Skills and competencies:
    Safety awareness 
    Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics and technical documents
    Ability to perform electrical tests, read results and diagnose and repair electrical problems
    Clear and effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with team members and supervisors. 
    Attention to detail. Thoroughness and attention to detail are crucial for ensuring accurate operations and preventing errors.
Responsibilities:

    Maintain the proper electrical performance and operation of all equipment within the Cold Rolling Works area.
    Maintain the functionality of power distribution within the Cold Rolling Works.
    Perform preventive maintenance activities

    Assemble, install, and maintain electrical and electronic control systems.
    Provide technical troubleshooting skills during upset conditions 
    Collaborate with Electrical Coordinators and Engineers as needed to diagnose electrical problems and determine how to resolve them.
    Record malfunctions in SAP with details of the issue.
    Support Operations as needed to meet business objectives.
    Support implementation of Best Practices and Continuous Improvement for the Cold Rolling Works.
    Maintain environmental and safety compliance requirements.
    Identify safety/environmental hazards and opportunities for improvement, be part of the solution.
    Any other activities that may be required, or requested, to support the business.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
  • Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
  • Ability to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of time
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt
  • Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
  • Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
  • Ability to work in areas with strong magnetic fields
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems 
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to safely use power and hand tools 
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead cranes. 

Salary: USD 35.13 hr.
