A SkyWest pilot is a professional airline pilot employed by SkyWest Airlines, a regional carrier in the United States that operates flights on behalf of major airlines like Delta, United, American, and Alaska Airlines. SkyWest pilots are responsible for safely operating commercial aircraft, ensuring passenger and crew safety, and following strict federal aviation regulations. They typically fly regional routes and may be based at various hubs across the country. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a SkyWest pilot?

To thrive as a SkyWest Airlines pilot, you need an FAA commercial pilot certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings, and typically an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification. Familiarity with advanced avionics, flight management systems, and company-specific operational protocols is essential.
