YARD HAND - BioFuels Plant

Position Reports To:

Shift Supervisor
Indirectly: Plant Manager and Operations Manager

Positions Supervised: None

Schedule

This position follows a 2-2-3 rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts:

7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Days)
7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Nights)

Employees rotate between day and night shifts every two weeks.

Schedule Breakdown:

  • Work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days
  • Then off 2 days, work 2 days, off 3 days
  • Every other weekend is a 3-day weekend
  • Includes built-in overtime

This schedule provides predictable time off, consistent overtime, and full coverage for our 24/7 operations.

Position Purpose

Join PureField Ingredients as a Yard Hand and play an essential role in supporting plant operations by loading products, moving materials, operating equipment, and assisting with daily yard activities.

This position is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient movement of incoming and outgoing products.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  • Communicate with Shift Supervisors to receive daily assignments and production information
  • Operate yard equipment including front-end loader, Bobcat, SkyTrak, and Trackmobile
  • Load trucks and railcars with ethanol, wet cake, and DDGS
  • Record shipping and production information accurately
  • Assist with weighing inbound and outbound trucks using computerized scale systems
  • Perform grain testing including moisture, protein, and aflatoxin analysis
  • Inspect, fuel, and maintain yard equipment
  • Clean and maintain yard, scale house, and work areas
  • Complete daily checklists, reports, and inventory documentation
  • Assist Plant Operators as requested to maintain plant operations and safety
  • Follow all safety programs, procedures, and policies
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Certification

High school diploma or equivalent required

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Machines and tools, including their uses and basic maintenance
  • Relevant safety equipment, policies, and procedures
  • Punctual and reliable attendance
  • Most job knowledge is gained through on-the-job training
