Field Service Technician Job Description
Skyline Products is looking for someone who will represent the company in a highly professional, consultative and customer centric way. A self-starter having the ability to represent to a degree our Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering departments, in addition to having excellent electronic troubleshooting skills. This person will provide customer support, field testing and repair on electronic dynamic message signs, traffic control systems, and electronic price signs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Travel to customer sites to perform onsite installation, configuration, inspections, preventative maintenance, upgrades, testing and troubleshooting of sign systems located at C-Stores, interstates and local roads
  • Ability to work and troubleshoot independently, as well as manage a parts inventory
  • Coordinate, manage and complete assigned project work orders in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with customers, internal support teams and engineering
  • Write routine trip reports, test result reports, and customer correspondence
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with both internal and external customers
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, ensuring timely issue resolution and high customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate on-site or remote training sessions

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Team oriented, able to work well with coworkers
  • Excellent customer interfacing and communication skills
  • Minimum of two-year's experience in basic electronics; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in the use of multi meters measuring AC and DC voltage
  • Able to read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Basic IP network troubleshooting experience
  • Basic Linux/Unix command line experience is a plus
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints for installation and repair work
  • Availability to travel up to 80% to customer sites; able to travel on short notice. IRS reimbursement rate for personal vehicle use. Drive to worksites up to 500 miles from home base. Air travel occasionally required
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform in cold, noisy, stressful environments
  • Able to work from an aerial lift at heights up to 200 feet
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
