A Skillbridge Cyber Internship is a program that allows active-duty U.S. military service members to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity roles with civilian employers during the last 180 days of their service. The goal is to provide valuable training and exposure to the cybersecurity industry, helping service members transition smoothly into civilian careers. These internships often include real-world projects, mentorship, and networking opportunities, making them a strong pathway to post-military employment in cyber fields.

Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton SkillBridge

This application is the official entry point for transitioning military service members who want to be considered for a SkillBridge internship with Peraton, at any location and across any mission area.

Please note:The roles listed on our careers site are full-time employment only, unless the position indicates otherwise. They follow our normal hiring processes and are not approved for participation in SkillBridge interning.

How Peraton SkillBridge Works

Peraton does not operate a cohort-based SkillBridge program or place candidates through a general applicant pool. Instead, SkillBridge internships are managed through a centralized process and are initiated primarily via specific, by-name requests from program teams.

This means:

  • A Peraton program, usually at or near your duty location, identifies a specific transitioning service member they want to bring on as an intern.
  • These opportunities are created locally and depend entirely on the program's mission needs and bandwidth at that time.
  • Because of this, SkillBridge openings are not posted publicly and cannot be applied to directly like normal jobs.

What Peraton SkillBridge Interns Do

SkillBridge interns participate alongside real Peraton programs and must be officially approved by their military branch to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program.

Peraton provides:

  • Hands-on, mission-focused, personalized training plans
  • Real-world experience on active programs
  • A chance for both you and the team to evaluate potential fit for future employment

Our SkillBridge program works best for service members who already have skills aligned with Peraton's needs.

Important Notes Before You Apply

Submitting this application:

  • Does not guarantee SkillBridge placement
  • Does not create a direct hire opportunity
  • Allow us to review your background and identify whether you may be a good match if a program submits a by-name request

This application simply helps us assess eligibility, skill alignment, and potential fit for SkillBridge consideration.

Eligibility

The DoD SkillBridge program allows active-duty service members to gain civilian work experience, training, and skills during the last 180 days of service (and no fewer than 30 days before separation).

To be eligible for a SkillBridge internship with Peraton, we review the following:

1. Alignment With Peraton Needs

We look at your military experience and skills to see how well they match current or potential Peraton mission needs and future full-time roles.

2. Program Sponsorship

A Peraton program must agree to sponsor and host your internship.SkillBridge positions are not assigned centrally, each one must be approved by the specific program you would support.

3. Internship Feasibility

Peraton must be able to provide a meaningful, mission-aligned internship that fits within our DoD-approved SkillBridge Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Application Requirements

Submitting and completing this SkillBridge application is required for:

  • Recording your eligibility with Peraton
  • DoD SkillBridge reporting
  • Proceeding with an internship after a Peraton program has selected and approved you

This application alone does not create an internship, but it must be completed if a program wants to bring you on.

Qualifications

Security Clearance Requirements

Some internships require a security clearance. If so, you must:

  • Already hold the required clearance level, and
  • Receive clearance verification and approval through Peraton's Personnel Security before starting the internship

Other Qualifications

Required

  • SkillBridge Eligibility:The DoD SkillBridge program is available only to active-duty service members and certain members of the National Guard and Reserves who are within 180 days of separation (and no fewer than 30 days before separation).
    • Each service branch has its own rules and approval process, so please confirm your branch-specific requirements before applying.
  • Residency and Locality Requirement:You must live in the city and state (or city and country) where the internship will take place.
  • Peraton does not offer remote SkillBridge internships.

Recommendation

  • We strongly encourage service members to complete all required Transition Assistance Program (TAP) courses before beginning SkillBridge. This ensures you fully understand your post-service options and are prepared for a smooth transition.
