What does a ski representative do?

A typical day for a Ski Representative often involves greeting and assisting guests with bookings, providing information about ski passes and equipment rentals, and resolving guest inquiries in person or over the phone. You’ll regularly interact with other resort departments, such as ski instructors, rental technicians, and guest services, to coordinate seamless experiences for guests. Job description

OVERVIEW

Established in 1980, Sun & Ski Sports calls an unexpected city home – Houston, Texas! Contrary to popular belief, cowboys love snow. Our journey began with a vision to help more people explore the outdoors. After four decades, with 32 locations across 13 states, we stand as experts in our field, committed to offering a variety of top-quality gear. Whether it's watersports, biking, running, skiing, or snowboarding, our goal remains unchanged: to make everyone an outdoor adventurer. We're dedicated to going the extra mile—26.2 of them, to be exact—to provide you with the right gear and guidance.

We offer top brands, including The North Face, Patagonia, Hoka, On, Cannondale, UGG, Sorel, K2, Salomon, and Yeti, along with expert advice to ensure enjoyable adventures. We’re looking for enthusiastic team members who embody our active lifestyle and prioritize customer service. If you thrive in a dynamic environment focused on enhancing the customer experience, we want to hear from you! We’ve been making outdoor dreams come true with quality merchandise and service. Sun & Ski Sports – Find Yourself Outside.

SUMMARY

Sun & Ski Sports is on the hunt for a driven, passionate Store Manager who’s ready to lead a high-energy team in an exciting, fast-paced retail environment. If you’re a natural leader with a love for outdoor sports and building dynamic teams, this is your opportunity to make a major impact. As Store Manager, you’ll oversee every aspect of the store’s operations — from team development and sales strategy to customer experience and visual merchandising. We're looking for someone who leads by example, thrives on results, and inspires others to bring their best every day. If you’re ready to lead with passion and purpose, we’d love to hear from you!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the team consistently delivers exceptional customer service that exceeds expectations.
  • Provide high-quality ski and bike services in a timely, professional manner.

  • Ensure all employees follow company policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Attend in-store and off-site product knowledge clinics to remain informed on trends and innovations.
  • Represent and promote Sun & Ski Sports within the local community through outreach and brand advocacy.
  • Lead and actively participate in store and community events and promotions.
  • Oversee store expenses and payroll, with the ability to plan, delegate, and adjust to changing business needs.
  • Communicate regularly with the District Manager and Home Office teams to align with company initiatives.
  • Uphold loss prevention standards, minimizing internal/external shrink and maintaining accurate cash control.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Outdoor Enthusiast with a passion for cycling, skiing/snowboarding, water sports, surf/swimming, skating/skateboarding, and more.
  • 2+ years of management experience in a retail environment.
  • Proven ability to motivate, lead, and develop a successful team while driving sales and profitability.
  • 2+ years of retail experience, preferably within snow, water, or bike sports categories.
  • Solid understanding of business operations, inventory management, and shrink reduction strategies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills for working with vendors, buyers, associates, and executive leadership.
  • Skilled in recruiting, interviewing, training, and staff development.
