Status: TEMP: Sept 7, 2026 through Jan 29, 2027, 18 - 20 weeks
Pay Range: $30-$35/ hour

Location: Zumiez Home Office - Lynnwood, WA
Zumiez and Product and Brand Services (PBS)
Zumiez is a leading specialty retailer of apparel, footwear, accessories, skateboards, and snowboards for young men and women who want to express their individuality through the fashion, music, art, and culture of action sports, streetwear, and other unique lifestyles. Headquartered in Lynnwood, Washington, Zumiez operates over 700 stores in North America, Europe, and Australia. We operate under Zumiez in North America, Blue Tomato in Europe, and Fast Times in Australia.
The Zumiez Product and Brand Services (PBS) team is responsible for over 30 unique brands spanning various categories, including men's and women's apparel, accessories, and snow/skate hardgoods. These brands are comprised of private label, licensed, and owned brands.
Position Purpose
Zumiez is seeking a Temporary Designer for the Mens Design Team of our Product and Brand Services department.
Our ideal candidate is an energetic team player who can create and execute creative direction and lead in project timelines, with the ability to remain flexible, consistent, and detail-oriented while thriving in a fast-paced environment. A candidate with a proven background in Apparel design or Product Development, who is a self-starter with a high level of detail, organization, and a passion for seeing a project from start to finish.
JOB DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage development through each aspect of production tech pack, BOM creation, fit & development.
  • Review and correct artwork strike offs, lab dips, and style specific trims based on tech pack and BOM
  • Communicate effectively and timely with overseas vendors
  • Accurately understand and interpret design concepts with guidance from manager and design leadership
  • Develop strong partnerships with cross-functional teams and Product & Brand Services counterparts
  • Participate in seasonal trend research and development
  • Complete projects independently based on guidance from Senior Designer
  • Flexibility in supporting multiple brands, categories, and overlapping seasonal development.
  • Attend design meetings, take notes and execute development cycle each season
  • Proactively recognize timing issues to prevent delays or oversights.
  • Meet established due dates based off multiple department calendars.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design or product development environment with a proficient knowledge of the apparel production process
  • College degree or equivalent with course work in design, technical design/patternmaking/ apparel manufacturing or related experience
  • Contribute to the Zumiez culture of empowerment, competition, teaching, learning, recognition, fairness, honesty, and fun
  • You have a solid understanding of the production cycle and time and action calendars
  • Proficient skill level using Microsoft Office, especially Outlook & Excel for Mac
  • Proficient skill level using Adobe Illustrator CC /Adobe Photoshop
  • Understanding of fabric characteristics, and ability to distinguish between different knit and weave types.
  • Experience with branding and the ability to adhere to established brand guidelines
  • Experience working/communicating with overseas factories or agents
  • Effective, Consistent, Clear Communication with all levels
  • Ability to take initiative and identify priorities to maintain deadlines are achieved.
  • Ability and willingness to work hard in a fast -paced, multi-tasking, team-oriented environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to sit/stand in a stationary position in an office environment for extended periods and work on a Mac or PC without limitations. Must be able to distinguish colors and inspect the material on the product.
