Avena Foods is recruiting a highly-motivated Sanitation Technician. The job location will be Rowatt, SK.  This full-time position includes cleaning and sanitizing building structures, mill production equipment and supporting Avena's pest control program.  Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly tasks must be completed.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare production equipment for cleaning by locking out machinery.

2. Operate cleaning equipment (e.g. floor scrubber, vacuum system, blower etc.).

3. Clean the food production facility inside and outside (all seasons).

4. Hand clean production equipment, which may require some disassembling and reassembling.

5. Work with maintenance & millers to ensure internal parts are cleaned and sanitized.

6. Conduct pest control inspections and support corrective actions.

7. Ensure that all processing equipment is cleaned to specification of all food safety guidelines to reduce potential food safety risks.

8. Maintain accurate sanitation documentation as required

9. Work safely with chemicals and follow chemical usage labels for application and Personal Protective Equipment.

10. Keep work area and office neat and clean and properly organized.

11. Other duties as required.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of HACCP principles and prevalent food safety and quality standards is preferred. Food Safe certificate is an asset. Familiarity with Food industry will be considered a strength

Basic sanitation experience is desired, and mechanical aptitude is a strong advantage

Excellent verbal (reporting) and written (records to fill out) communication skills

Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and follow through on them.

Ability to work independently and in as team with minimal supervision.

Excellent interpersonal skills that enhance inter-departmental interactions.

Willing to be flexible on schedule; ability to meet schedules and deadlines as required

Ability to work at heights above ground level using a scissor lift and ladder and lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

General Education Development grade 12 is required

*This is a shift position which may include evenings and weekends.  You may be required to work in ambient temperatures.  This position will require manual effort such as climbing ladders/stairs lifting materials, etc.
