Position: Sizer Operator
Location: 6550 WA-14 Bingen, WA 98605 or 111 S. Parallel Ave. Dallesport, WA 98617
Direct Supervisor(s): Production Manager, Operations Manager
Schedule: 6:00am - 4:30pm; 30-min Lunch; 4 days a week. Rotate days on and off based on an ABC schedule. Overtime as needed. 7 days a week up to 10 hours a day during Cherry season (approx. June-July) at Dallesport in a similar position.
Compensation: $19-$24 per hour
Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonuses

Position Summary:
As a Sizer Operator in our Packing Facilities, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the sizer machines used in the sorting, grading, and sizing of apples, pears, and cherries. Your attention to detail, precision, and commitment to quality will directly impact the final product's quality, appearance, and marketability. This position is crucial in helping us maintain our reputation for producing top-quality fruit. Work locations are at Bingen (approx. Aug-May) and Dallesport (approx. Jun-Jul).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Program and operate the defect/sizer computers
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Constant monitoring of production speed and quality. Proactively identifying and addressing any sorting issues.
  • Ensuring accurate sorting by maintaining proper sorting standards. Reduction of waste due to over sorting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of the defect/ sizer equipment.
  • Monitor and oversee maintenance of sizer including: timing, calibrations, weigh system, padding, etc.
  • Communicate with employees & management via radio and telecom system. Engage with employees to evaluate sort outs for accuracy.
  • Supply necessary reports for grower accounting and cost accounting
  • Responsible for training other individuals as backups for this key position.
  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices, personal and work area hygiene & food safety standards and requirements.
  • Follow all Plant Safety requirements and adhere to the Company Handbook.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Must be available for flexible hours, overtime and weekends.
  • Must have good attendance (85% +). This is a key position.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time; Ability to occasionally pull/push objects, climb, grasp & reach.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate using a radio and phone.
  • You must have 20/20 visual acuity in each eye, corrected or uncorrected.
  • Use of one or both hands to complete tasks.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good hand dexterity.
  • High reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic mathematical ability.

Experience/Education:
  • English written & verbal.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Use of computer applications for 2 years.
  • An understanding of logistics in a production setting.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred.
