What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Single Mother, and why are they important?

I'm sorry, but 'Single Mother' is not a professional job title in the context of real-world employment, so I cannot generate a response for this request.

What are single mothers?

Single mothers are women who are raising one or more children without the support of a spouse or partner in the household. They may be single due to separation, divorce, widowhood, or having never been married. Single mothers often balance work, childcare, and household responsibilities on their own, which can present unique challenges. Support networks, community resources, and government assistance programs are available to help single mothers manage these challenges.

What is the difference between Single Mother vs Childcare Worker?

AspectSingle MotherChildcare Worker
Required CredentialsNo formal credentials required, but parenting experience is commonHigh school diploma or equivalent; certifications like CPR often preferredWork EnvironmentHome, community, or online; flexible hoursChildcare centers, schools, or private homes; structured hours

Single Mother refers to a woman raising a child alone, often managing all responsibilities herself. A Childcare Worker is a professional providing care for children in various settings. While both roles involve caring for children, a Single Mother is a personal role without formal credentials, whereas a Childcare Worker is a paid profession requiring specific training. Understanding these differences helps clarify job expectations and qualifications in the childcare industry.

Job description

The Organization:

Since 2011, Dream Centers, a faith-based nonprofit, has provided health and hope to those rebuilding their dreams. Dream Centers includes a Women’s Clinic offering medical care, professional counseling, and a full suite of wrap-around services. Our second program, Mary’s Home, is a multi-year program offering trauma-informed care, life-skills training, education, job development, and positive role modeling in a high-challenge, high-support environment for single-mother families experiencing homelessness. Our newest initiative, Big Dream Early Learning, is an innovative early learning center that helps children from birth to age six bridge the gap between early childhood trauma and the hopeful future they deserve. Our holistic approach is designed to heal from the inside out, empowering women and children to rebuild their dreams and exit homelessness permanently.

The Position:

This position supervises the Mary’s Home Advocacy Program and ensures that program operations align with Mary’s Home Core Commitments while supporting the overall health and stability of the residential community. The Family Services Program Manager oversees program administration and data management, including intake documentation, program tracking, and reporting from intake through move-in and ongoing participation. This role provides direct advocacy support to mothers by offering guidance, resource coordination, and goal-setting throughout each family’s journey in the program. The Family Services Program Manager also supervises and supports the Family Advocate staff, providing coaching, oversight, and accountability to ensure high-quality advocacy services and consistent program implementation. Strong relational engagement, discipleship, and a commitment to empowering mothers toward stability and independence are essential for success in this role.

  • Oversee the full Advocacy program, participant growth evaluations, child development, housing partnerships, peer leadership, and work skills
  • Manage participant data systems; ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper staff training
  • Lead quarterly Family Growth Assessments; set goals and track participant progress through each program phase
  • Oversee participant intake, admissions coordination, move-in process, and exit decisions in partnership with the Program Director
  • Facilitate ongoing staff training with a focus on trauma-informed care best practices
  • Assess community health, mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual, and recommend appropriate support
  • Manage disciplinary processes for staff and participants; keep Program Director informed
  • Participate in strategic planning, program development, and outcome reporting

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field (required)
  • 4+ years in social work, case management, counseling, pastoral leadership, or coaching
  • Experience working with homeless, trauma-affected, or domestic violence-impacted populations
  • Proficient in office management and reporting software

Character Requirements:
