Job Description
AECOM is seeking a well-qualified Traffic or ITS Engineer to support a hybrid role in one of many different offices across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. These roles will be highly rewarding and highly impactful locally as well across the region and are a great opportunity to join a dynamic team that continues to win high profile projects and shape the communities around us. Responsibilities include:
Support a team of professionals to deliver:
  • Traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
  • Plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation
  • ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process
  • Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects.
  • Actively participate in the team's production of technical deliverables ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.
  • Work with Early in Career staff and help review technical work and project documentation
  • Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to AECOM quality standards
  • Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred minimum 5 years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards and projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE license in 6 months
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Traffic and Traffic Simulation Software and design platforms.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
  • Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both, verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude towards work.
