Staff Analysis Engineer

Allient Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a Staff Analysis Engineer to join our team at our corporate innovation center and headquarters located in Buffalo, New York!

The Staff Analysis Engineer leads modeling, simulation, and quantitative analysis of electromechanical systems - including motors, drives, gears, actuators, and motion mechanisms. This role requires deep experience with MATLAB and Simscape for dynamic system, thermal, and power-flow analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced analysis across electrical, mechanical, software, and actuation systems.
  • Use modeling and simulation to define and validate system requirements, performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Develop test plans and correlate test data with models.
  • Conduct subsystem testing and support system/vehicle integration.
  • Apply innovative engineering solutions to enhance product performance.
  • Review designs and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Work with internal teams and customers to define requirements and present technical results.
  • Improve standard engineering processes and documentation.
  • Mentor engineers at multiple experience levels.
  • Support proposals through technical definitions, trade studies, and compliance activities.
  • Some limited travel may be required (15% typical)
  • Additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering with 9+ years of experience (or bachelor's with 11+ years).
  • Preferred experience using MATLAB and Simscape for dynamic, thermal, and power-flow analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary engineering efforts.
  • Preferred: FEA/CFD experience (Ansys), knowledge of electric/hybrid propulsion systems, and experience with actuation technologies (motors, gearing, ball screws, DC motor drives).
  • Preferred: Experience with military programs, government contracting, ITAR, and working with primes or Tier 1 suppliers.
