Job description

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will support our product development and design of our high-power three-phase UPS, Energy Storage, medium voltage product lines. The role includes all aspects of product design life cycle from concept to production as part of a global, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. If you have a passion for hardware design of power electronics-centric products, this role is for you. Our growing team is expanding our product portfolio with next-generation technologies, and we are looking for engineers with a passion to ensure that we make what matters to our customers work.

Responsibilities
  • Work with global cross-functional engineering team to design and develop new products which may include three-phase 480V UPS, 1MW and larger energy storage systems, or solid state transformer (SST) products for maintaining critical loads such as datacenters and hospitals.
  • Create and maintain functional specifications aligned with customer and product management requirements.
  • Review data and simulate power electronics, analog, logical, and digital circuits, including transient and state machine change analyses.
  • Drive technical excellence and rigor through simulations and Design for Six Sigma concepts.
  • Collaborate with the electrical lead in product development projects and be accountable for meeting cost, product performance, and schedule goals for areas of responsibility.
  • Interface with vendors on component technical issues, including data sheet clarification, component performance, and design solutions.
  • Support product DVT and validation testing in the lab with a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Support prototype build, testing and delivery of products to the customer.
  • Analyze and simulate power electronics systems from board level to complex products.
  • Work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three (3) years work experience in power electronic circuit design.
  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year work experience in power electronic circuit design.
  • Must reside in the United States.
  • Relocation is offered on the role.
  • Must live, or be willing to relocate to the Raleigh, NC area.
  • Experience with inverter design, knowledge of battery systems and protective devices including power distribution.
  • Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power electronics utility interface, and power conversion topologies.
  • Understanding of power electronic controls and the impact on system design.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma tools.
  • Experience interacting with Global teams.
  • Experience in development of medium voltage power conversion equipment.
  • Ability to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems.
