Job description

Paralegal (5+ years)

The South Florida office of Brown Sims PC, an established and respected law firm is seeking a Paralegal for its busy insurance defense litigation team. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our team.

Five plus years’ experience working as a paralegal is preferred.

Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe. Must be highly organized, have excellent research and writing skills, with emphasis on attention to detail, as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment and think creatively. Must have the ability to draft case analyses, summarize medical records and be familiar with medical terminology, prepare basic Excel spreadsheets, and manage deadlines. Ability to communicate, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment is required.

• Preferably at least 5+ years of experience working with lawyers with case-related tasks or client-related tasks.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook email/calendar, and Adobe Acrobat.

• Billable time experience necessary.

• Large case docket experience.

• Multi-level case medical record review and summarization.

• Review and summarize court documents and discovery responses.

• In-depth experience with individual and company-based background research.

• Preparing and assisting attorneys with deposition and trial preparation.

• Knowledge of state and federal rules regarding subpoenas and authorizations.

• Experience with communication with records management/vendor relations.

• Experience working with a document management system.

• Knowledge of technical and communications skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands.

• Superb attention to detail, grammar, and punctuation, and the ability to articulate thoughts efficiently.
