Job description

Summary of Duties:

Welding and fitting duties to support tank fabrication operations. Performs basic maintenance, and inspection of equipment. Requests supplies as needed. Keeps work area in clean and neat condition. Practices safe work habits, participates in required safety training and programs. Has good communication skills and ability to work with others.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Able to weld with stick (welding electrode) in all positions. The two electrodes that we use are 6011, all position rod mainly used for tacking and fitting, and 7024, one position rod used to weld tank seams.

2. Able to MIG weld (SMAW and GMAW) using .045 and .051 metal core and inner shield wire with various gas shield.

3. Able to use plasma and oxy-propane cutting torches.

4. Able to read blueprints, tape measure, protractor degrees.

5. Able to follow instructions and be self-motivated enough to work with little supervision.

6. Tools required: welding hood, jacket, gloves, 5lb sledge hammer, chip hammer, tri-square, bubble level, 50 ft. & 12 ft. tape measure, steel toe shoes.

EDUCATION:

Requires high school diploma or GED equivalency; simple reading and arithmetic such as addition and subtraction of whole numbers and reading decimals; work with simple charts, drawings, and measuring equipment.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least three years of successful continuous employment, welding in a commercial or industrial setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate physical effort; requires standing on for entire shift; may lift up to 60 lbs. throughout the day; good eye and hand co-ordination; good visual acuity in order to perform most task; must be able to climb, stoop, and bend to get up and down from forklift truck and perform various outside activities throughout yard.
