What is a sim?

A 'Sim' job typically refers to roles related to simulation, including simulation engineers, simulation technicians, or professionals who create and manage simulations for training, research, or testing purposes. These jobs are found in industries such as aerospace, healthcare, automotive, and defense. Simulation professionals use specialized software and models to replicate real-world scenarios, allowing organizations to analyze outcomes, improve designs, or train personnel safely and cost-effectively.

What does a sim do?

Simulation Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, and analyzing simulation models to test products, processes, or systems in a virtual environment. Throughout a typical week, they collaborate closely with design, engineering, and testing teams to gather requirements, implement simulation scenarios, and interpret results to guide decision-making. They often troubleshoot model issues, optimize performance, and document findings to ensure accuracy and effectiveness. This role frequently involves using specialized software and requires strong communication skills to translate technical results to stakeholders.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a sim?

To thrive as a Simulation Specialist, you typically need a background in healthcare or education, strong understanding of simulation methodologies, and relevant experience or a degree in a related field. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills help Simulation Specialists effectively coordinate training sessions and adapt to changing needs. These competencies ensure realistic, efficient simulation experiences that improve learner outcomes and support institutional goals.
