Job Description:

Chemical Operator - RH

Huntsman is seeking a Chemical Operator - RH supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Job Scope

Monitor, adjust, and record process conditions to maintain safe and quality operations as directed by site procedures and management. Ensure daily operational tasks such as filter changes, log sheet recording, material transfers, and product packaging are completed in accordance with site SOPs. Support and actively engage in the site's Zero Harm program in all tasks while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

This is an individual contributor role within manufacturing operations responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant plant processes in a chemical manufacturing environment.

In summary, as the Chemical Operator - RH, you will:
  • Monitor, document, and communicate operating and quality conditions of plant processes.
  • Notify appropriate personnel and respond when operating conditions are not met.
  • Transfer material into and out of drums, totes, bags, tankers, and other containers using diaphragm, gear, and centrifugal pumps.
  • Move and connect chemical hoses to pumps, reactors, tanks, tank wagons, and other equipment.
  • Maneuver drums and other containers for filling and storage.
  • Consistently pack out and stack 55-lb. bags of product onto pallets.
  • Support and actively participate in the site's Zero Harm and SIM programs.
  • Complete all required safety training, including Confined Space, Hot Work, Line Break, and Lockout/Tagout.
  • Wear all required PPE in accordance with procedures and JSAs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Lead Operator, or Production Manager.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions including rain, wind, excessive heat, and cold.
  • Work a 12-hour shift on days or nights as required.
Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications Education required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
Experience required:
  • 2+ years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing plant or similar environment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Skills and Knowledge
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and complete batch sheets and other required documentation
  • Ability and willingness to learn basic chemistry and math skills
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift
  • Physical ability to climb and work from stairs, ladders, and platforms
  • Physical ability to lift 55-lb. bags above the waist
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, stretch, handle process equipment, and move portable equipment for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional educational experience beyond High School Diploma/GED
  • Previous experience with materials regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
  • Previous hazardous material handling and waste transfer experience
Working Environment
  • Shift: 2-2-3 schedule
  • 12-hour night shift once trained on day shift
  • Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, including rain, wind, heat, and cold
  • Requires use of PPE including chemical suits, rubber gloves, rubber boots, long-sleeved FR clothing, and full-face respirator
  • Requires operation in a chemical manufacturing plant environment
  • Involvement with materials regulated under RCRA
  • Training may include computer-based training, classroom instruction, and on-the-job training prior to involvement with regulated materials
