ESTATE PLANNING ATTORNEY


Position Summary

The Estate Planning Attorney is responsible for reviewing, drafting, revising, and finalizing sophisticated estate planning documents that accurately implement each client's legal strategy. This attorney partners directly with clients throughout the planning process, ensuring documents are legally sound, completed efficiently, and aligned with each client's objectives.


The ideal candidate has experience preparing comprehensive estate plans, enjoys technical legal drafting, and is committed to delivering an exceptional client experience from initial strategy through implementation.


What You'll Do

  • Independently draft and review estate planning documents using WealthCounsel. 
  • Analyze client information and prepare customized estate planning strategies and documents. 
  • Meet with clients to review recommendations, explain planning strategies, and answer legal questions. 
  • Revise documents based on client feedback prior to signing. 
  • Guide clients and their professional advisors through implementation and estate funding. 
  • Manage workflows using Decision Vault, Lawmatics, WealthCounsel, Microsoft 365, and related software. 
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure an exceptional client experience. 
  • Ensure all document deadlines are consistently met. 
  • Provide timely, proactive communication with clients and colleagues. 
  • Stay current on estate planning law, tax developments, and drafting best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school 
  • Active license in good standing in Arizona, Washington, or Idaho, with ability to be admitted to, at minimum, Washington and Idaho
  • 2–5 years of estate planning experience 
  • Experience drafting sophisticated estate planning documents, or, at minimum, working in estate administration “plus” demonstrably strong drafting skills
  • WealthCounsel experience strongly preferred 
  • Experience with Decision Vault and Lawmatics is a plus 
  • Strong understanding of wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, state-level estate tax, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related planning techniques 
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills 


Compensation & Benefits

Starting Salary: $100K/yr, higher depending on experience

  • Excellent client satisfaction and responsiveness. 
  • Strong collaboration with the Estate Planning Team.
