Signal Processing Intern information

What is a signal processing intern?

A Signal Processing Intern is a temporary position where a student or recent graduate assists in analyzing, designing, and implementing algorithms to process signals such as audio, images, and sensor data. They work with tools like MATLAB, Python, and digital signal processors to improve data transmission and interpretation. Interns may contribute to projects in telecommunications, biomedical engineering, or machine learning while gaining hands-on experience in filtering, Fourier analysis, and signal transformation. This role often involves collaboration with engineers and researchers to develop innovative solutions.

What kind of projects and collaboration can I expect as a signal processing intern?

As a Signal Processing Intern, you are likely to work on projects involving the analysis, filtering, and interpretation of signals from various sources, such as audio, radio, or sensor data. You may contribute to tasks like prototyping algorithms, testing signal processing techniques, and supporting ongoing research or development efforts. Collaboration is a key part of the role, as you will interact closely with engineers, researchers, and sometimes software developers to implement and optimize solutions. This hands-on experience will give you deeper insight into real-world signal processing applications and prepare you for more advanced roles in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a signal processing intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Signal Processing Intern, you need a solid understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) fundamentals, proficiency in mathematics, and a background in electrical engineering or computer science. Familiarity with MATLAB, Python (NumPy/SciPy), and signal analysis tools is highly valuable, and coursework or certifications in DSP or related fields are often preferred. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective teamwork and communication skills help interns excel in project-based environments. These capabilities enable interns to contribute meaningful insights and solutions to complex signal processing challenges typically encountered in research and product development.

Is signal processing in demand?

Signal processing is in high demand across industries such as telecommunications, aerospace, and healthcare, driven by advancements in wireless communication, sensor technology, and data analysis. Signal processing interns with skills in MATLAB, Python, or similar tools are often sought after as organizations focus on improving data quality and system performance.

Job description

Nuovo Artistic Studios is the premier destination for all things self-love. A by-women company and one of the largest artistic photography companies in North America, Nuovo is on a mission to empower individuals by fostering confidence and self-expression while celebrating intimacy and individuality.

We're looking for an IT Security Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for a student who is passionate about cybersecurity and wants to gain hands-on experience implementing real security initiatives in a modern, fast-paced environment. You'll work alongside our IT leadership and support team, helping protect our head office, remote employees and retail studios while contributing to meaningful security projects from planning through execution.

Unlike a traditional support internship, this role is centered around projects, giving you the opportunity to make a lasting impact across the organization. The highlight of your internship will be leading the rollout of a company-wide password management migration, giving you experience with security best practices, end-user enablement and change management.

This Internship will take place from August 31st to December 18th, 2026

What You'll Do:
  • Play a key role in the organization's migration to 1Password, helping onboard employees, provide user support and drive adoption across every department
  • Assist with implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA) and retiring legacy password storage methods across the organization
  • Partner with IT leadership to ensure the password management migration is completed successfully from planning through execution
  • Conduct security reviews of our SaaS environment, with a focus on Google Workspace, and present prioritized recommendations for improving our security posture
  • Help implement approved security improvements across key business platforms
  • Assist with identifying and assessing Shadow IT by documenting applications in use across the organization and evaluating potential security risks
  • Support Level 1 IT operations when needed, assisting with hardware, software and user account requests across office, remote and retail environments
  • Collaborate with the IT team on security documentation, processes and best practices

Requirements

About You:
  • A current student in IT, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field, returning to school after the internship
  • A genuine interest in information security - coursework, certifications, or personal projects are all welcome signals
  • A working understanding of everyday hardware and software, comfortable across macOS, Windows, and iOS
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through - in security work, the details are the work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; you'll work with colleagues at every level of the organization and guide them through change
  • Discretion and sound judgment - you'll be trusted with sensitive work
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace administration or 1Password is a plus
  • English required; French is an asset

Benefits

What We Offer:
  • Inspiring Work Environment: Immerse yourself in a creative, collaborative company where artistry and empowerment converge.
  • Growth Opportunities: Be part of a fast-growing company committed to nurturing talent and fostering career development.
  • Recognition and Support: A team that values your contributions and celebrates your success.
