Job Description

The Highway Sign Installer is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roadway signs and delineation devices on state and county routes. Working under the direction of the crew lead, this position assists with sign installation, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and emergency response activities as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and replace roadway signs, posts, and delineators.
  • Operate hand and power tools, including drills, saws, ratchets, and chainsaws.
  • Safely operate assigned flatbed trucks and equipment to transport materials to job sites.
  • Construct and repair barricades and traffic control devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of signs, posts, and related materials.
  • Assist with emergency response efforts, including nights and weekends when required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and perform other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain Traffic Control Certification.
  • Willingness to learn highway sign installation, maintenance, and traffic control practices.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, trucks, and equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and noisy environments, including around active traffic.
