Position Overview

We are seeking an Operations Project Manager to lead complex technical and capital projects at our Lewiston, Maine manufacturing facility.


Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role is responsible for managing projects from concept through implementation, including engineering development, procurement, construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up. Projects may include major capital investments, new or modified manufacturing equipment, facility infrastructure, and new product or process development.


This is a hands-on project leadership role for an engineer who can balance technical problem-solving, project execution, vendor management, and manufacturing priorities while driving projects safely, on time, and to defined performance objectives.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical and capital projects from initial concept and engineering through procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and start-up.
  • Develop project scopes, engineering requirements, equipment specifications, layouts, process flows, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Manage procurement of equipment, materials, engineering services, and contractors while monitoring cost, quality, delivery, and project timelines.
  • Lead design, installation, and modification of manufacturing equipment and facility systems, including HVAC, compressed air, boilers, chillers, electrical infrastructure, pumps, transformers, and other plant systems.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Lead APQP activities for new product and equipment launches and validate new or modified equipment through commissioning and product qualification.
  • Identify manufacturing bottlenecks and implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma improvements to increase throughput, improve yield, and reduce waste.

  • 3–7 years of project management experience within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing capital equipment, facility, or manufacturing process projects
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, metallurgy, materials processing, or related industrial processes
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Understanding of OSHA, NEC, NFPA, IBC, and other applicable industrial safety and engineering standards
  • Ability to interpret process, instrumentation, electrical, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and PLC-controlled equipment
  • Strong project planning, organization, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and effectively communicate with employees, leadership, contractors, and vendors
