NOW Hiring MIG Welder/Fabricator ($26-$28/hr)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled welder fabricator to join our team in Cedar Rapids. Specializing in custom signage, we serve a diverse range of clients including schools, hospitals, and major businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on sign components, frames, and structural assemblies.
  • Fabricate and assemble custom sign products using mild steel and aluminum materials.
  • Work frequently with .063 aluminum and other sheet metal materials.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Utilize tape measures, squares, and other measuring tools to maintain precise dimensions and quality standards.
  • Apply basic shop math skills for layout, fabrication, and material calculations.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including aluminum bending machinery, band saws, drill presses, and other metalworking equipment.
  • Assist with low-voltage electrical wiring and assembly of sign components when welding duties are completed.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ year of MIG welding experience preferred
  • Proficient with blueprints and shop math
  • Experience in MIG welding, fabrication on steel, and welding mild steel and aluminum
  • Strong understanding of tape measure usage, fractions, and basic shop mathematics
  • Experience operating fabrication and material handling equipment

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • TIG welding experience preferred but not required
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn multiple aspects of sign manufacturing
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Work in a small, close-knit shop of 20 people. The facility is not climate-controlled, and the position requires work on the first shift from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
