Job Description
The role of an interpreter is to facilitate understanding in communication between people who speak different languages. The professional interpreter interprets between two languages in such a way that effective communications takes place between the participating language speakers/signers.
Affordable Language Services is the leading provider of medical interpreters in the Tri-State area. Due to the growth of certain languages spoken in our area, we need to hire more interpreters.
Responsibilities
  • Render accurate, comprehensive and professional interpreting services per the national Code of Ethics.
  • Interpreting activity is performed in compliance with the IMIA Standards of Practice, National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care, and the Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain professional standards by attending continuing education trainings to maintain the highest standards for delivery of service.
  • Speak, read, and write fluently in ENGLISH and Vietnamese language

Qualifications
  • At least a high school education
  • The ability to speak English and at least one other language at a fluent level
  • Willing to be trained in medical or legal interpreting
  • Sensitive to cultures other than your own
  • Legally able to work in the United States
  • Willing to do screening including: TB test, drug test, and FBI background check
  • Able to provide documentation of MMR/Varicella immunizations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
