Job description

Sign Installation Technician — Join a Team Where Every Day Is Different, Fast‐Paced, and Hands‐On

You’ll thrive in this role if you love working with hand and power tools, enjoy being on ladders and lifts, and want a job where no two days look the same. Prairie Fire Signs & Graphics is looking for a driven, mechanically minded Sign Installation Technician who’s ready to tackle challenges, think critically on the job, and help bring high‐impact signage to life across the Kansas City metro.

What You’ll Do

  • Install signage — channel letters, monuments, pylons, vinyl graphics, LED displays, and more
  • Operate equipment — ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and bucket trucks
  • Use tools confidently — drills, drivers, saws, grinders, and other hand/power tools
  • Read layouts and drawings to execute precise installations
  • Troubleshoot issues on‐site using strong mechanical and problem‐solving skills
  • Perform basic electrical connections, mounting signs, and some vinyl application
  • Service existing signage including repairs and diagnostics
  • Maintain organized tools, vehicles, and job sites
  • Work independently or with a lead installer depending on project size
  • Adapt quickly in a fast‐paced environment with shifting priorities and varied job sites

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Comfortable and confident working at heights, on ladders, lifts, rooftops, and bucket trucks
  • Strong experience with hand and power tools
  • Natural critical thinker who can assess situations and solve problems on the fly
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic electrical wiring
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs and work outdoors in all weather
  • Enjoys a different environment every day — shops, rooftops, construction sites, retail properties, and more
  • 1–2 years of experience in sign installation, construction, or a related trade preferred

Why This Role Stands Out

If you’re energized by hands‐on work, love seeing tangible results, and want a role where your skills directly shape the visual identity of businesses across the region, this is the job for you. You’ll be part of a tight‐knit team that values craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency — and you’ll never be bored.
