Job description

Your future is waiting for you as an Emergency Medicine Physician in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Sound Physicians is a physician-founded and led, patient-first medical group grounded in one belief: better support for clinicians leads to better care for patients. Our emergency medicine teams are empowered to lead care locally with the backing of a strong national network committed to clinical excellence, intentional leadership development, and collaborative partnership. Here, youโ€™ll practice alongside care teams that work seamlessly across Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and Critical Careโ€”creating smoother transitions, stronger accountability, and better outcomes for the communities we serve.

If youโ€™re looking for a place where your clinical judgment is valued, your growth is supported, and your work truly makes a difference, weโ€™d love to talk.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join our close-knit team of 6 physicians and 2 APPs at Mercy Hospital Pittsburg.
  • Work alongside a team that values diversity, with clinicians from various geographic, educational, and training backgrounds, all united by a commitment to learning and improving patient care through fresh perspectives.
  • Our team thrives on collaboration and mutual support, and we are always ready to help during procedures or shift changes.
  • Many of us actively participate in hospital committees, such as the medical executive committee, strengthening our relationships with specialists and the supportive administration.
  • Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.
  • Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on our patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.

Qualifications:

  • We are looking for board-certified/eligible emergency medicine physicians.
  •  J1 visa candidates are invited to apply, access Soundโ€™s in-house visa specialists, as well as our licensing and credentialing experts

Scheduling:

  • Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we offer a flexible schedule. We are always there to support each other when covering shifts.
  • Shift times are 6 AM - 6 PM and 6 PM - 6 AM.
  • Full-time status is 120 hours per month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care in a 13-bed Level IV emergency department, managing a diverse range of cases with 15,500 annual visits.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including specialists and imaging professionals, to deliver top-tier care.
  • Engage in regular monthly, remote, and in-person meetings to foster team collaboration and provide a platform for feedback and continuous improvement.

Living and Working in Pittsburg:

  • Pittsburg, Kansas, is a beautiful place to live due to its strong sense of community, an affordable cost of living, and diverse opportunities, including reputable educational institutions such as Pittsburg State University. The city boasts a blend of small-town charm with ample recreational activities, a thriving arts scene, and a robust economy, making it an attractive and welcoming place for residents.

Compensation:

  • Well-rounded compensation package which includes employed status and an excellent benefits package.
  • Up to $50k sign-on bonus available.
  • Up to $25k retention bonus available.
