SUMMARY: The Refrigeration Operator uses their hands-on knowledge of ammonia refrigeration and experience working with industrial refrigeration components to accomplish preventative and predictive maintenance tasks of the refrigeration department of the assigned facility. Assist with Boiler and steam system maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration equipment, such as compressors, ammonia pumps condensing towers, etc.
  • Full understanding of the refrigeration cycle
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and assigned work orders
  • Perform troubleshooting activities, as necessary.
  • Performs quality checks as required by position and/or product at assigned facility
  • Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures, and governing requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Required
    • High school or equivalent AND 5+ years of experience in Refrigeration, Maintenance, or similar skill set
    • Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA) membership w/Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) or ability to obtain.
    • Ammonia Refrigeration (2 stage system)
    • Able to pass and maintain state High Pressure Steam Boiler License
    • Process Safety Management (PSM) understanding
    • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record
    • Speak, read & write fluently in English
  • Preferred
    • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) certification
    • Excellent mechanical aptitude with ability to handle multiple projects at one time
