Job description

About National Water Services
In 1991, we embarked on a quest to provide the best drinking water possible. The response to our first FreshPure® Waters system was overwhelming. Today, our waters are sold in the finest natural and organic food stores and co-ops in the United States and Canada. At National Water Services, we share your commitment to quality, sustainability, wellness, and the environment.
Get Paid to Drive Your Route. Work When It Works for You.
Field Technician - FreshPure Water Machines
1099 Independent Contractor | $27/hr | GENEVA, IL
If you like working independently, hate being stuck at a desk, and want a consistent route you can count on - this might be exactly what you're looking for.
NWS operates water vending machines in retail stores across the country. We're building a team of Field Technicians in GENEVA, IL to keep those machines clean, stocked, and running right. It's straightforward work, it pays well, and you're in charge of your own time.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Each week (or every two weeks, depending on the location), you'll visit your assigned stores and:
  • Clean and disinfect the FreshPure machine inside and out
  • Take meter readings and log the data on your service report
  • Snap photos of the machine condition at every visit
  • Submit your completed report to the home office when you're done
  • Call in anything that looks off - damage, mechanical issues, anything unusual

That's it. Each stop takes about an hour. Your total hours per week depend on how many stores are on your route.
What Makes This Different from Other Gig Work
  • Consistent, scheduled route - not random job pickups
  • Same stores every week, so you know exactly where you're going
  • $27/hr all-in - your mileage and travel are already baked into the rate
  • Supplies provided - we give you everything you need to do the job
  • Real support - a home office contact you can actually reach

This Is NOT a Repair Job
You're not expected to fix anything. If a machine has a mechanical or technical issue, you flag it and we send a Service Technician. Your job is to keep things clean, documented, and reported - that's where your value is.
What You Need to Get Started
  • A reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license
  • A smartphone with a camera for photo submissions
  • Attention to detail - you follow the checklist, every time
  • You show up when you're scheduled. That's the most important thing.

No experience in water systems required. If you've done field services, retail merchandising, delivery routes, janitorial work, or anything similar - you'll hit the ground running.
Who Thrives in This Role
This is a great fit if you're already doing gig work and want something more predictable layered in, or if you're looking for flexible part-time income that fits around your schedule. People who do well here tend to be:
  • Self-starters who don't need someone looking over their shoulder
  • Detail-oriented - you notice things other people miss
  • Reliable - your stores count on you showing up
  • Good communicators - you keep the home office in the loop
